The Firm’s experience in education law is as deep as it is broad, and spans many decades. Our representation includes public school districts, as well as private educational institutions ranging from elementary schools to major universities. We have represented numerous public school districts in the St. Louis area and elsewhere in the State of Missouri, and currently serve in an ongoing capacity as outside general counsel for five school districts located in St. Louis County. We did the legal work to form, and now continue to represent, two special entities growing out of the settlement of the St. Louis School Desegregation Case which involve, respectively, operation of one of the Nation’s largest voluntary student choice programs and oversight of vocational/technical secondary education throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.

While some of our partners focus on education law, all of our lawyers have practiced in this area. Our education experience runs the gamut and involves every aspect of law which significantly touches school districts and other educational institutions, from the rights and duties of students, teachers and staff, to board governance issues, construction and land acquisition matters, funding and taxation issues, constitutional issues, public employee association and a host of other issues and matters. We have represented educational entities in numerous kinds of legal proceedings, both judicial and administrative. Our Firm was chosen to serve as lead trial counsel for the two dozen St. Louis County school districts in the St. Louis School Desegregation Case – the largest case in the federal court in St. Louis – and also was chosen to lead the ultimately successful settlement negotiations on behalf of those districts.

Partners in the Firm have served as presidents and members of school boards, both public and private, and have also served on the Board of the Conference on Education and the Missouri Bar School Law Committee. Our lawyers have also been involved in numerous other educational organizations and activities.
